Description
The Church of Santa Maria Iscalas, located northwest of Cossoine, dates back to the end of the first millennium.
It has a Greek cross plan with Byzantine influences, later expanded with a side nave that served as a baptistery.
The construction is made of irregular white limestone.
In the surroundings, there are traces of prehistoric settlements, such as domus de janas and a nuraghe, which testify to the historical importance of the area, continued until modern times.
